We started this project back in late April of 09 for Jim who was looking for the ProStreet look. He wanted to keep the same stance that the truck had originally but improve on its looks and the way it drove. The first order of business when doing a project like this is to inspect the truck and list in detail everything that you see. We always scale every complete car before and after any major suspension work, this if valuable information for us later in the project. We also measure the body and chassis and mark them both on the vehicle and in our notes for future reference. We found that the front coil over's had been wound down to lower the stance of the truck, in turn making the truck ride rough on the bump stops. Easy fix was a set of lowering spindles and the correct spring rates for the coil over's. After the inspection we mount the truck up onto one of our Precision frame tables. The table is used to ensure that the build stays straight and true. Note that the top surface of the table is always ground. Watch the progress pictures as we show you in detail how we tubbed this already show quality 47 Chev Truck. As always we are going to try and make the build look like it came out of the factory this way. Function and safety are our first goals. Making it look good just comes. Enjoy!
All the parts used in this project can be purchased through Hitman Hotrods.
